A German beauty of timeless passion and sleek design. When you're interested in class and an overpowered engine, there is no other choice.
Southern San Andreas Super Autos description, GTA V.

The Übermacht Zion is a two-door coupé featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Grand Theft Auto VI

[edit | edit source]

The rear of a Zion can be distantly seen driving across a Vice City bridge in official artwork of Jason and Lucia.

Influence

[edit | edit source]

The Zion is primarily based on the BMW 6 Series (E63), particularly the 650i model, as evidenced by its headlights and wheel trim design. Its taillights appear to be inspired by the 2005–2008 BMW 7 Series (E65) and/or the 2009–2012 BMW 7 Series (F01), while the diffuser and exhausts are derived from the BMW M3 (E90/E92/E93).

Design

[edit | edit source]

The Zion appears similar to the Sentinel and the XS variant, but has a longer wheel base and extended rear. The front end is very similar to the Sentinels in the layout of the components, but the trapezium-shaped grille does not feature a chrome trim around. The lower intakes appear to be slightly smaller and narrower than those of the Sentinels, while two carbon-fibre lips can be seen at the bottom edges of the car. Unlike the Sentinels, the license plate is mounted below the bumper line, almost over the central intake. The bonnet is relatively flat and features the manufacturer emblem on the front.

The sides of the car are mostly similar to the Sentinels, although they do not have a prominently flared profile on the rear fenders, lack exit vents on the front ones and the bottom features a set of carbon-fibre skirts. The greenhouse area shares the plastic trim detail as the Sentinels, although it has coloured B-pillars like the Sentinel XS and the mirror shells are finished in carbon-fibre.

The rear of the car is mostly identical to the Sentinels in layout, but the boot is somewhat larger, the upper lip is much larger and the tail lamps have a more traditional appearance. The bumper is also identical to the ones on the Sentinels, but has a vented section on the centre and the exhausts are located within the carbon-fibre diffuser. The Zion features similar badging to that of the Sentinel XS, albeit featuring its own "Zion XS" badge.

The Zion is only painted with a primary colour, which also affects the interior stitching. The wheels are identical to the "GT One" sport rims available in Los Santos Customs, wrapped in low-profile tyres.

Performance

[edit | edit source]

The Zion has an average performance line, having a good handling and turn cycle, a good braking distance, and an acceptable top speed. Its main issues are to do with its engine, as its acceleration is among the worst of the Coupes class. It can take around 13 seconds to reach an average speed of 60 mph. Deformation is also quite appalling, taking only several head-on crashes to make negative cambers on the wheels, slowing the car down, and majorly effecting steering and braking.

The Zion is powered by a twin-cam, four-cylinder engine fitted with a turbocharger, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox in a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Its engine sound seem to be a lower-pitched, smoother variation of the one used in the Sentinel.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]

General

[edit | edit source]
  • As with other Übermacht vehicles, the Zion's name is a reference to The Matrix franchise, in this case being a reference to Zion, the last human city on planet Earth.
    • Originally, the vehicle was named "Seraph".[1] Seraph is the guardian of The Matrix computer program.
  • In Judaism, Zion is a place name often used as a synonym for Jerusalem.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online

[edit | edit source]
The Übermacht billboard depicting the Zion.
  • In Morningwood, there is a billboard with a photo of the front end of a Übermacht Zion with the pun "DisObey", referencing the in-game car company Obey, which parodies Audi. This is referencing to the billboard ad wars BMW (Ubermacht) and Audi (Obey) had with each other over a number of months.
    • The billboard shows the Zion with the newer Übermacht logo despite the car always appearing with the older logo.
