Tickets for Wikimania 2027

The Wikimania 2026 was sold out soon and I dont know how many people have been able to attend through the waiting list as capacity was increased or people did not needed their ticket after ordering initially. For next Wikimania I wish there will be a process what enables people to get a chance for a ticket also if they are not registering soon after the ticket sales starts. The best solution for this is from my point of view a sortition mechanism where people can express their interest in getting a ticket. After the period to express interest a sortition happens and by random out of the interested people the ones who get a ticket link will be picked. Then the people have time to buy the ticket and afterwards the sales for the rest starts. Another thing to make sure volunteers can attend is a focus on volunteers. So I think there should be less employees of chapters. For them there should be an own conference integrating the local community as exchange with volunteers is important. A third thing I wish and as far as I know other people mentioned too is the possibility to buy day tickets. If there are four days this can help to give more people the chance to attend Wikimania. So please think about ways to ensure the interest in Tickets in Wikimania can be served and people who are interested can attend next year. Hogü-456 (talk) 20:21, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
