VM Brasseur's "project pyramids" from OSCON 2016 talk (slides [PDF]). Conventional wisdom puts "community" at the base layer (as seen on the left); Brasseur contends that "contributors" is the broader category and that a community can only be built on top of a contributor base (as seen on the right).
