OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 released

The openSUSE Leap 42.1 release is now available. "Version 42.1 is the first version of openSUSE Leap that uses source from SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) providing a level of stability that will prove to be unmatched by other Linux distributions. Bonding community development and enterprise reliability provides more cohesion for the project and its contributor’s maintenance updates. openSUSE Leap will benefit from the enterprise maintenance effort and will have some of the same packages and updates as SLE, which is different from previous openSUSE versions that created separate maintenance streams." OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 released

I went ahead and blitzed my Fedora install. Thinkpad T450s now running leap, working fine without issue. And first exposure to KDE5 seems pretty good as well. Im looking forward to the mix between stability with the SLES core and new recent features in KDE5 and newer software packages. Seems a good mix imo

It seems the correct link URL has changed from having "distro" to "distribution": https://news.opensuse.org/2015/11/04/opensuse-leap-42-1-b...

(I imagine OpenSUSE renamed the post without realizing their blog engine would change the permalink without adding a redirect for the old link.)

OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 released

It is now also available as a base on SUSE Studio, which I have been using for maintaining a "granny" distribution (with a grand total of one user). The hopefully very stable Leap would be suitable for this case. One downside is there is no 32 bit version of Leap, so not suitable for older computers. Have to check if my user's hardware can run it, and can it do Flash (sadly still a necessity).

I never did get one-click yast installs to work with Open Studio from Firefox. I installed every package I saw on my regular system.
