Secure Transactions on .KE Websites: A Practical Guide for Kenyan Businesses and Consumers https://kenic.or.ke/secure-transactions-on-ke-websites-a-practical-guide-for-kenyan-businesses-and-consumers/ Mon, 08 Dec 2025 09:48:11 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=16666 In Kenya’s rapidly growing digital economy, .KE domain websites have become essential platforms for e-commerce, online services, and business operations. From local marketplaces like those selling farm produce in rural areas to urban fintech startups, .KE sites handle millions of transactions daily.

However, with convenience comes risk: cyber threats such as phishing, data breaches, and payment fraud are on the rise. According to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), reported cyber incidents continue to rise annually. Ensuring secure transactions on .KE websites is not just a technical necessity, it’s a trust-building imperative for users and businesses alike.

This article explores the key elements of secure transactions, best practices for implementation, and why .KE domains are uniquely positioned to foster safe online interactions in Kenya.

Understanding Secure Transactions

A secure transaction involves the safe exchange of sensitive data—such as payment details, personal information, or login credentials—between a user and a website. On .KE sites, this typically occurs during online shopping, bill payments, or service subscriptions.

The foundation of security is encryption. Data transmitted over the internet should be scrambled to prevent interception. The standard protocol is HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), which uses SSL/TLS certificates to encrypt communication. Without HTTPS, data travels in plain text, vulnerable to “man-in-the-middle” attacks where hackers eavesdrop on public Wi-Fi networks common in Kenyan cafes or matatus.

Essential Security Features for .KE Websites

To build user confidence, .KE site owners must implement layered security measures:

 1. HTTPS Enforcement: Always redirect HTTP traffic to HTTPS. Browsers like Chrome flag non-HTTPS sites as “Not Secure,” deterring visitors. Tools like Cloudflare offer free HTTPS setup for .KE domains.
 2. Secure Payment Gateways: Integrate trusted Kenyan providers such as Pesapal, M-Pesa API (via Safaricom), or Jenga by Equity Bank. These gateways comply with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), handling card data without storing it on your server. For example, avoid custom-built payment forms; use tokenized systems where sensitive info never touches your site.
 3. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Require 2FA for logins and high-value transactions. Services like Google Authenticator or SMS-based verification (leveraging Kenya’s high mobile penetration) add an extra layer without complexity.
 4. Input Validation and Anti-Fraud Tools: Use CAPTCHA or reCAPTCHA to block bots. For fraud detection, integrate AI-driven tools which flag suspicious patterns like multiple failed logins from unfamiliar IP addresses.

Best Practices for Consumers Using .KE Websites

Kenyan users, from Nairobi tech enthusiasts to farmers accessing agri-portals, play a crucial role in transaction security:

 1. Verify the Site: Check for the padlock icon and “https://” in the URL. Ensure the domain ends in .KE (or subdomains like co.ke). Beware of typo squatting, e.g., “mpesa.co.ke” vs. the official Safaricom site.
 2. Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Employ password managers like Bitwarden. Enable 2FA wherever offered.
 3. Monitor Transactions: Review bank/M-Pesa statements promptly. Report anomalies to your provider or the CA’s National KE-CIRT/CC cyber hotline (1555).
 4. Avoid Public Networks: Stay off public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks, if you must use it, protect your connection with a VPN.
 5. Shop on Reputable Sites: Look for .KE domains verified by the Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC) with clear privacy policies.

The Bottom Line

As Kenya aims for Vision 2030’s digital goals, secure .KE websites will drive inclusive growth. With 5G rollout and increased AI cybersecurity investments, expect smarter threat detection.

Security isn’t just a tech thing — it’s a trust thing.
A secure .KE website gives your customers confidence to buy, pay, and come back again. It protects your brand, your data, and your income.

So, before you launch that next campaign or online store, make sure your foundation is safe and solid.

Because in Kenya’s digital world, trust is your real currency.

]]> Why You Need a Portfolio on a .KE Domain https://kenic.or.ke/why-you-need-a-portfolio-on-a-ke-domain/ Tue, 10 Jun 2025 08:11:02 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=16216

Potential employer/clients: What you’re saying sounds great, but do you have any work samples you could show us?

You: …ummm (panic sets in)… can I just send you some links and files?

Potential employer/clients: ….sure?

This is a common scenario with creative types and developers.

You’re focused on finding the work, doing the work, billing the work and so on. So it, doesn’t leave you much time to properly archive and show your work in one place – ie: a proper portfolio.

But what about my LinkedIn Profile and Sparkling Resume?

Having a recently updated LinkedIn profile (and presence) is all well and good.

But – let’s say you’re someone that has work to show, like a photographer, illustrator, musician, web designer or copy writer. Potential clients and employers are only getting a small part of your story and capabilities from a LinkedIn Profile or resume.

Which, of course, doesn’t do your creativity and vision the proper justice!

You also don’t want to get into the habit of having to print off paper copies of your work to show an employer.

What you need, then, is a dedicated, digital portfolio website that lives forever on the web, is interactive – and can be easily updated and shared as you create new work.

Why make a portfolio website? Four reasons

Reason 1: Share your skills and experience

First off: your portfolio website is like a catalogue of all your hard-earned skills and abilities! For example, if you’re a sound engineer or music producer, it’d be great to show off some of the ear-candy you’ve helped create!

If you’re a web developer; give clients proof that you’ve got an eye for UI and can build them something dazzling.

Reason 2: Let your personality shine!

Yes, showcasing great work samples is important, but so is giving insight into your personality and creative process.

Your portfolio website can be a space where you give clients a sense of what inspires you and the passion you put into your work. Sometimes showing that you’re someone that’s fun and exciting to work with carried more weight than having all the design chops in the world.

Reason 3: It helps build your online presence – and credibility.

One of the first things a client will do is Google you. And if nothing comes up…then what. Your portfolio website establishes your online presence and shows people that, yes, you are indeed a wedding photographer from Nairobi, and you have, in fact, been paid to take photos at weddings!

In all seriousness – a good portfolio website can be huge for establishing customer trust and credibility. Let’s say someone is in the market for a wedding photographer; your website should make it easy for them to feel confident in hiring you – or, at the very least, contacting you for more info.

Reason 4: It’s a great tool for presentation and pitches.

Most of your potential clients and employers are visual creatures. If you’re presenting to them in person or online, your portfolio website allows you to walk people through all your best work rather than just describing it and handing them your resume.

How to Build Your .KE Portfolio Site

 1. Choose a professional .ke domain: Use your name, profession, or brand – e.g., doreenkhamala.ke or creativechemist.me.ke
 2. Pick a hosting platform: Consider providers from our licensed registrars with Kenyan support: https://kenic.or.ke/licensed-registrars/
 3. Design for your brand and audience: With our Registrars help, you can choose colors and fonts aligned with your professional sytle; ensure mobile responsiveness.
 4. Create content with purpose: Tell your story: who you are, what you do, key projects, case studies, testimonials.
 5. Add credibility elements like quotes, client feedback, project outcome highlights.
 6. Include clear contact options: Make it easy to reach you – email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, or a contact form.
 7. Update regularly: Refresh your portfolio as you complete new projects or develop new skills.

A .KE portfolio website isn’t just an online business card – it’s an investment in your professional future. It builds trust, opens doors, and supports your growth – personally and within Kenya’s digital economy.

Keep in mind: a .KE domain shows potential clients and customers that you’re proudly Kenyan. Plus – .KE has far more domain name inventory than .com, so there’s a better chance you’ll be able to find the name you want.

And if you’re looking for an added layer of professionalism, you can use your new .KE domain name to create a custom email address like info@yourname.me.ke or info@yourame.ke, to use everywhere from resumes to business cards.

How Fake Domain Names Can Destroy Your Brand’s Reputation https://kenic.or.ke/how-fake-domain-names-can-destroy-your-brands-reputation/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 11:16:01 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=16084 A brand identity represents who you are, builds trust with your customers, and distinguishes you from competitors. For this reason, it is one of your most valuable business assets.

On the internet, your domain name is the foundation of this identity, and its how customers find and recognize you online. So, when someone impersonates your domain, they’re not just creating a fake identity; they’re threatening the trust and reputation you’ve worked so hard to build.

Fake Domains

Fake .ke domains are fraudulent addresses designed to closely mimic legitimate Kenyan businesses, organizations, or government entities. Cybercriminals create these deceptive domains to mislead customers into believing that they are engaging with an authentic website.

The primary objectives of these fraudulent domains include:

 • Deceiving users into believing they are interacting with an authentic website
 • Stealing sensitive personal or financial information
 • Spreading malware
 • Conducting phishing attacks
 • Damaging the reputation of legitimate brands

How to Recognize Domain Impersonation

Cybercriminals use different techniques to craft convincing fake domains. Some of these methods include, (but are not limited to the following):

 1. Typo squatting

Cybercriminals can register domains that contain minor misspellings of legitimate brands. They do this by taking advantage of common typing errors that users make. For instance:

Fake domain: standrdbank.co.ke

Legitimate domain: standardbank.co.ke

 1. Substituting Characters

Cybercriminals can use visually similar characters to create domains that appear real at first glance. For instance:

Replacing “l” with “1”: ken1c.or.ke instead of kenic.or.ke

Swapping “0” (zero) with “O” (letter O)

Such small changes can be difficult to notice when you are not alert, increasing your chances of falling victim.

 1. Other Tricks

Cybercriminals also use subdomains to make fake websites appear credible. For instance:

 • They add extra words that seem relevant (e.g., secure-bank.co[.]ke)
 • Use country or regional prefixes (e.g., ke-banking[.]com)
 • Incorporate authentication sounding terms (e.g., verify-payment[.]co[.]ke

Why/How .ke Domains Protect Your Identity

A .ke domain serves as a mark of authenticity and trust for businesses operating in Kenya. When you register a .ke domain, you get to protect your brand identity in the following ways:

 • Builds legitimacy & Trust: Customers are more likely to trust and engage with a verified .ke domain.
 • Legal Protection: Registering a .ke domain assures you of legal ownership, this makes it harder for cybercriminals to impersonate your brand.
 • Domain Security: At KeNIC, we have implemented various security features to secure your domain.
 • Enhanced Brand Recognition: Do you know what is more Kenyan than the flag bracelet? A .ke Domain!

What Next for You?

With the knowledge that cybercriminals are advancing and getting more creative, it is important that you also take some action towards securing your personal and brand identity.

First, always double-check the domain you are accessing for name errors and inconsistencies.

Secondly, enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) to provide you with an extra layer of security. MFA will help prevent unauthorized access even if your credentials have been compromised.

For big businesses, you can consider registering variations of your domain that could be used by cybercriminals.

And if you are a business owner, educate your employees and customers on phishing threats and domain impersonation to reduce the risk of falling victim to such attacks.

Lastly, report suspicious domains: If you come across a fake .ke domain or suspect that a domain is fake, report it to cirt@ke-cirt.go.ke or send an email to support@kenic.or.ke

It all started with a vision— one where Kenya’s digital footprint could extend far beyond its borders. Initially designed for entities within Kenya, in 2025, the .KE domain has evolved into something much bigger. No longer just a local identifier, it has become a hybrid of sorts, bridging local relevance with global accessibility. Check out .KE Domain Statistics

Back in 2020, KeNIC partnered with Google to make it easy for you to get your business verfied, so you can get additional value from your .KE domain name. Furthermore, you will get improved search engine optimization (SEO) for your business and a wider marketing reach through Googel Search engines. Google saw the potential in .KE and decided to team up with KeNIC in this strategic partnership. This collaboration wasn’t just about visibility—it was about giving local content a fighting chance in a crowded digital world.

.KE: Building a Safe Neighborhood

Now, let’s talk about trust. While Google doesn’t explicitly favor one top-level domain (TLD) over another in its search rankings, it does prioritize user experience. That means search engines are more likely to trust TLDs that have stricter regulations against spam and malicious activity—like .KE. At KeNIC, we take this responsibility seriously. We continuously monitor abuse, actively suspending domains linked to spam, phishing, or malware. Our mission is to ensure that .KE remains a safe and trusted space for businesses and individuals alike.

Are .KE Domains Important for SEO?

You’ve probably heard the term SEO thrown around a lot. But what exactly is it? SEO—Search Engine Optimization—is the art and science of optimizing a website to rank higher in search results and attract more organic traffic. Ever wondered why certain websites appear at the top of your Google searches? It’s not by chance. These sites have carefully implemented SEO strategies that make them the best possible match for user queries. Since 93% of all website traffic comes from search engines, mastering SEO isn’t just a good idea—it’s a necessity.

Why .KE is a Smart Choice for SEO

If you’re a business looking to expand your reach, whether locally or internationally, a .KE domain could be your secret weapon. Please read that again..

Here’s why:

 • Local and Global Relevance: A .KE domain signals a strong connection to Kenya while also offering international accessibility. It ensures visibility not only in local searches but also on a broader scale, making it ideal for businesses with a global outlook.
 • Brand Trust and Credibility: Kenyan users trust businesses with a .KE domain as it shows commitment to the local market. At the same time, international businesses using .KE benefit from credibility and association with a regulated, reputable domain space.
 • SEO and Keyword Opportunities: Shorter .KE domains provide more room for strategic keyword placement, which can enhance search rankings both in Kenya and beyond.
 • Expanding Global Presence: With international registrars and partners now working with KeNIC, acquiring and managing a .KE domain has become more accessible worldwide. This collaboration strengthens the global reach of .KE domains, making them a valuable asset for businesses seeking to operate beyond borders.

Your Domain becomes a strong part of Your Brand Identity

Choosing the right domain name is like choosing the perfect name for your business—it’s a decision that will shape your brand’s online presence for years to come. While brainstorming your ideal domain name, rest assured that from an SEO standpoint, a .KE domain is a smart and strategic choice.

So, if Google loves .KE, maybe it’s time you did too!

A Guide to Avoid Domain Expiration: The Day Sarah’s www.herbrandname.ke Almost Disappeared. https://kenic.or.ke/a-guide-to-avoid-domain-expiration-the-day-sarahs-www-herbrandname-ke-almost-disappeared/ Mon, 03 Feb 2025 16:32:30 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=15867 Sarah had built something special. Her website www.herbrandname.ke was her digital home – a space where she shared her thoughts, connected with clients, and showcased her work. Life was busy, but her website was always there, working quietly in the background.

Until one day…. It wasn’t.

She tried to log in, but nothing loaded. Instead, a dreaded error message stared back at her. Confused, she checked her email and there it was – the one reminder she had ignored: “Dear Sarah, Your domain www.herbrandname.ke has expired on …………… Kindly contact your hosting company to renew your domain. For more information, call 0702693515” – KeNIC

Panic set in. Had she lost her domain forever? Would someone else claim www.herbrandname.ke and turn it not something unrecognizable?

The Race to Renew

Thankfully, all was not lost. She quickly followed these steps to bring her domain back to life.

 • Check the expiration date: She should have checked this earlier through her registrar or KeNIC’s WHOIS Lookup. Lesson learned!
 • Contact the registrar: She immediately reached out to the company where she had registered her domain. They assured her it was still recoverable. NB:If you have a .KE domain name and you don’t know your registrar, email us at customercare@kenic.or.keor visit our WHOIS Lookup.
 • Confirm domain details: She updated her email and phone number to the most recent ones to make sure she never miss nother renewal notice. NB:Ensure that the details that are used to register your domain are up-to-date. This information includes an email address, a phone number, a P.O. Box address, and a name. It is virtual to have this information updated in order to receive renewal notifications.
 • Choose a renewal period: This time, instead of renewing for just one year, she opted for five years to avoid future stress.
 • Make the payment: A few clicks later, her renewal fee was settled. This process mostly involves a fee that varies with the different .KE registrars and also the domain package that is being offered.
 • Confirm the renewal: She refreshed her site … and www.herbrandname.ke was back! Crisis averted!

But What If She Had Waited Too Long?

Had she delayed, things could have gone from bad to worse:

⚠ Redemption Period: If too much passed, her domain would enter a “redemption” phase – In this state, the domain name cannot be renewed through the normal means and is typically expensive to redeem. In addition to the high expense, redeeming a domain takes a few days.

⚠ Domain Deletion: The ultimate nightmare – if she didn’t act, www.herbrandname.ke could be deleted from KeNIC Registry and snapped up by someone else. Once, deleted, the domain becomes available, to the fastest taker. Imagine losing years of branding, just like that!

Lesson Learned: Don’t Let Your Domain Expire!

Sarah now sets reminders for her domain renewals. Better yet, she registered www.herbrandname.ke for 10 years to avoid future headaches.

If you have a .KE domain, take a moment to check its status. A few minutes today can save you from a costly mistake tomorrow.

Need help? KeNIC and its registrars send renewal reminders—just ensure your contact details are up-to-date.

To Kenyan Entrepreneurs: Turn Your Social Media Followers Into Customers with a .KE Domain Website! https://kenic.or.ke/to-kenyan-entrepreneurs-turn-your-social-media-followers-into-customers-with-a-ke-domain-website/ Wed, 27 Nov 2024 08:15:28 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=15732 In today’s digital age, social media has become an essential tool for businesses to build their brand and engage with customers. But while platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter provide a fantastic space to showcase your products or services, they do have limitations. If you’re a Kenyan entrepreneur looking to turn your social media followers into paying customers, a website with a .KE domain could be the game-changer you need.

Here’s how a .KE website works for you and why it’s crucial to your business success.

 • A Centralized Access Point for Your Audience – Social media platforms are designed to encourage short, frequent interactions. But when it comes to providing detailed information about your business, they can fall short. A link to your website in your bio or within your link-in-bio tool (like Linktree) directs your followers to a one-stop shop where they can explore your products, services, or content in-depth. A website gives you the freedom to organise and present your offerings professionally, without the clutter and constraints of social media posts.
 • Increases credibility and professionalism – While social media is fantastic for visibility, it can sometimes give the impression of being informal. By linking your social media profiles to a .KE domain like www.greenspoon.co.ke, you immediately elevate your brand’s credibility. It shows them, “This is not just another social media page; this is a serious business with its own platform.”
 • Streamlines the Sales Funnel – Social media is often where potential customers first discover your business – iot’s the top of the sales funnel. But while social media helps you build awareness and engagement, your website closes the deal. By linking to your website from your social media profiles, you provide an easy path for interested followers to learn more and take the next steps toward purchasing.

A well-designed website can guide your customers through their decision-making process, with clear product descriptions, reviews and easy-to-navigate checkout systems. A social media profile may generate interest, but it’s your website that seals the deal.

 • Promotes Long-Term EngagementUnlike social media, where interactions might end with a like or a repost or comment, your website offers ongoing opportunities for engagement. You can capture visitor information using forms, newsletters, or even offer free resources, which can help you nurture relationships over time. Collecting email addresses or sign-ups for your newsletter helps you stay connected to your customers, even after the initial interaction. This continuous engagement allows you to build a lasting relationship with your customers, offering them exclusive deals or valuable content that keeps them coming back.
 • Drives Sales Leads – A well-placed Call-to-Action (CTA) in your social media bio can prompt followers to visit your website and take action. For Example: Adding a strong Call-to-Action (CTA) like “Visit www.greenspoon.co.ke for exclusive offers!” in your bio motivates followers to act.
 • Enhances Searchability and SEOBy linking your .KE domain across your social media profiles, you improve the chances of your website appearing in search results. Search engines like Google place significant value on backlinks from trusted platforms like instagram, Facebook and Linkedin. Each click from these platforms to your .KE website increases your visibility and improves your rankings.

As more people engage with your site through social media links, your website’s authority grows, which can lead to higher search rankings for your business. This means that more potential customers will find you when they search online, driving more traffic to your site.

 • Local Appeal for Kenyan CustomersA .KE domain signals to your audience that you’re a Kenyan business, which resonates with customers who prefer supporting local enterprises. In a globalized digital marketplace, having a .KE domain can give your business a distinct local appeal, building trust and community support. A .KE website shows your followers that you are a part of Kenya’s growing digital economy, making them more likely to engage with and purchase from your business.

Ready to Transform Your Followers Into Customers?

Turning social media followers into paying customers requires more than just engaging posts. It requires a professional, centralized platform where you can showcase your products, build credibility, and foster long-term relationships. A website with a .KE domain provides that foundation.

Are you ready to take your business to the next level? The first step is simple: secure your .KE domain and begin transforming your social media presence into a powerful business tool.

]]> Transferring Your Other Domain Name to .KE: Steps and Reasons to Make the Move https://kenic.or.ke/preparations-before-transferring-a-domain/ Fri, 22 Nov 2024 08:14:22 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=15722 Before beginning the process of transferring your other domain to a .KE registrar, there are essential steps to prepare for a smooth transition. Follow this guide to ensure your transfer goes as seamlessly as possible:

a) Verify Domain Eligibility

Not all domains are transferable immediately. Our registrars will require the domain to be at least 60 days old from the initial registration date and not currently in a transfer lock status. To confirm if your domain qualifies for transfer, log in to your domain management panel or contact the support team of your current registrar.

b) Cancel Private or Protected Registration

If you have privacy protection enabled on your domain (e.g. “Protected Registration” or “Private Registration”), you’ll need to disable it before the transfer can be initiated. Note that this does expose your contact information in the WHOIS database temporarily, but is a prerequisite for the transfer.

c) Update Contact Information

Next, ensure that your domain’s WHOIS contact information, including your name, address, email address, and phone number, is accurate and up-to-date. Any discrepancies can cause delays or even prevent the transfer from going through.

d) Unlock the Domain

Most registrars allow you to lock your domain as a security measure. If your domain is locked, you’ll need to unlock it for the transfer. To do so, log in to your account at the current registrar, navigate to the domain settings, and select the option to unlock the domain.

e) Obtain Authorization Code

Get the EPP code (aka the authorization code) from your current registrar. This code is required to do the transfer. It’s typically available in your domain management panel, but you can also request it from customer support.

Why Transfer Your Domain to .KE?

Here’s a few reasons why you may be looking to transfer your domain:

 • Cost: Domain registrars can sometimes increase renewal fees out of the blue. Transferring to a registrar with a more competitive rate can save you a lot of money in the long run.
 • Features: Not all registrars offer the same features. As your site grows, you may need additional features, like better security, automated backups, and advanced domain management tools. This could prompt a transfer.
 • Customer service: You may be unhappy with the customer service provided by your current registrar, and looking to move to one that’s known for its responsive and helpful support team.
 • Consolidation: If you have multiple domains registered with different providers, it’s a good idea to consolidate them under one registrar, as it can simplify management and billing.
 • Downtime: If you experienced downtime due to a cyberattack or a technical glitch with your current registrar, it may be a sign that their infrastructure isn’t reliable. This is a very solid reason to transfer a domain.

Take the First Step Today!

Ready to make the switch? Start your domain transfer process now and enjoy the benefits of a .KE domain name. Contact our support team via support@kenic.or.ke for personalized assistance.

Your .KE domain is your gateway to a stronger online presence. Don’t wait—transfer today!

Build Your Social Media Presence with a .KE Domain Name: Stand Out and Be Seen! https://kenic.or.ke/build-your-social-media-presence-with-a-ke-domain-name-stand-out-and-be-seen/ Thu, 14 Nov 2024 10:00:16 +0000 https://kenic.or.ke/?p=15696 Once upon a time, in the vast digital landscape, countless businesses and creators were jostling to be seen. Among them was Lola (not her real name), a young entrepreneur who loved gift-giving, eager to get her creations in front of a wider audience. From an early age, Lola enjoyed going into Nairobi town, getting into different stores, and getting the most unique gifts for her friends. Admittedly, one day a light switch came on and she decided to try it out as a business. Lola had a vision for her business, but social media alone wasn’t quite helping her build the loyal following she hoped for.

“How can I stand out from all these other businesses? How do I make people remember my brand and connect it back to Kenya?” she wondered.

And then it clicked—she needed a place on the internet that wasn’t just borrowed real estate but truly her own. She needed her own website, and not just any website—a website with a .KE domain name to ground her brand and give it credibility as a proudly Kenyan enterprise. – www.purpink.co.ke

Why a .KE Website for Social Media Success?

For entrepreneurs like Lola, a .KE website is a game-changer. Here’s why:

 1. Authenticity and Trust: When people see a .KE website, they know this business is connected to Kenya. It brings an instant sense of local trust and authenticity. With a .KE website, visitors will connect her craft to her Kenyan heritage and values, which enhances brand loyalty.
 2. A Home Base Beyond Social Media: While social media is fantastic for sharing updates and engaging followers, a website is where customers learn who you are, shop for your products, and even leave feedback. Lola wanted a space where she could display her story, introduce her products, and offer customers a smooth shopping experience—whether they were looking for a corporate gift, a floral arrangement, or a custom hamper. Her .KE website became the center of her social media strategy.
 3. Directing Followers Back Home: Lola linked her new website, www.purpink.co.ke, across all her social media channels. No longer did her followers have to search through her posts to find products; everything was just a click away. Her website became the central hub for her business, offering a place to explore new products, sign up for exclusive offers, and learn more about the brand’s Kenyan roots

Turning Her .KE Website into a Marketing Powerhouse

With her .KE domain up and running, Lola took her digital presence to the next level. She didn’t just use her website as a shop—she made it an integral part of her brand story. On her site, Lola launched a blog series called “Crafting with Lola,” where she shared behind-the-scenes insights into her creative process, the inspiration behind her products, and tips for thoughtful gifting. By sharing these blog posts on social media, Lola deepened the connection with her followers and encouraged them to visit her website regularly.

“Now, when people search for my business or crafts from Kenya, my website is right there,” Lola says with a smile.
