Korean food is having a moment–one that's been decades in the making. Dr. Rory Walsh explores what Korean food is, how it got that way, and how it's changing under our noses. From Ann Arbor to Seoul, this talk explores what food has to do with tradition, identity, international politics, ancient history, family, self, and, of course, the deceptively complicated concept of authenticity.

Rory Walsh has been studying the anthropology of Korea since 2012, and has eaten her way across the peninsula (and Jeju!). She has written extensively on Korean archaeology and hosts the UM Nam Center for Korean Studies' podcast, "Korea in Maize and Blue: How Did You Get Here?", interviewing Korean scholars and other professionals across disciplines.
